
Welcoming Esme To the Project Harvest Family!
It’s an honour to welcome Catalina Esmeralda Soc Carrillo as Project Harvest’s new Formation Officer! An indigenous Quiché woman with extensive involvement in Mayan Indigenous women’s projects, Esmerelda brings a wealth of lived experience and knowledge to this key role in our community-based work in elevating women’s voices and human rights to build resilience in marginalized regions of Guatemala.
Esmerelda is passionate about promoting social and gender justice for Mayan women. She has facilitated various initiatives with grassroots organizations like CONAVIGUA and Tierra Nueva and been involved in impactful projects in the Department of Quiché. A recent Social Work graduate from Rafael Landívar University, she has also completed training on advocacy for the rights of indigenous women and girls, and participated in the National Meeting of Women Peacebuilders and the Wajxaq’ib B’atz School of Feminist Economics.
Esmerelda was one of four women featured in an article in the recent news publication Prensa Comunitaria in Guatemala. Read more about her experience promoting the voice of women in important community, regional and national entities:
